I receive alot of comments on my cat crew; Emily, Mim and Kai, who man the upper two floors of the building while Ripley, the Chow watches the store. What's Happening this Spring.....
It's that frosty cold time of the year in Wisconsin. We are working to bring you the best customer service we can, in spite of the cold temperatures. The store windows are all decorated with penguins and zebras and we have had so much fun this season.
We are busy getting the restocking done, putting together orders for old and new items. Our order from Mary Meyer arrived. Along with our favorite Flip Flops™; Georgie Giraffe, Priscilla Poodle, Bubba Bull, Bessie Cow and others, we have added a couple of new Sweet Rascals™; Sweet Drake Dragon and Sweet Sheldon Bichon. We also picked up the colorful S-S-Slithers Snakes and puppet/puzzle sets. Retired items from Mary Meyer were Stevie Seagull and Charlie Camel, so they are no longer available. Flip Flops are so popular that we are re-ordering immediately and filling out the inventory. So we have Darby Dragon, Hillary Horse, Tommy Turtle and others on their way....arriving shortly.
Wildlife Artists arrived. We have an assortment of realistic dinosaurs; t-rex, triceratops, stegosaurus, velociraptor and brachiosaurus. We also received prairie dogs, slow loris and wild african dogs. An assortment of colorful snakes rounds out the new arrivals. We really like the new snakes, they are made of nice plush, are a good size and extremely colorful. And they are proving to be our most popular snakes. Wildlife Artists create beautiful quality toys at reasonable prices and I am sure you will enjoy more and more of them as we pick up new items. Be sure and keep an eye out for their new penguins that should be available in November to go along with the movie Happy Feet.
Our new Unipak Designs order is arriving shortly. Unipak is a tried and true company giving you, our customer, great quality at a good price point. We have restocked our Plumpees, adding a new larger size of the Plumpee cats. We have added a couple of new cats, a Panther with Baby to go with our White Tiger with Baby, Anthony Antelope, and some more Handfuls Owls since they are popular little guys.
Jellycat has arrived with many of our favorite Bunglies™ and Junglies™ plus a couple of new ones...the Bunglie White Poodle and the Bunglie Westie. We added a Cushkin™ Dragon as well.
Folkmanis has arrived with dragon puppets of all shapes and sizes, including the very cool shoulder puppets which allow you to have your own pet dragon. Also some ostrich chicks, hermit crabs, porcupines, macaws and some of our favorite puppets.
Fiesta is here with many of the unusual and realistic creatures we love like lemurs, moles, zebras, foxes, camels, and many more. We have picked up some new items such as a sloth and a new marmoset. Quite a few things were not available until late this year and some things were not on order on their end. So we are checking regularly and filling in the gaps as soon as those items become available.
Jack Rabbit Creations has arrived with a their assortment of whimsical jack-in-the-boxes, a clever snake which assembles using magnets and plush roly poly balls. Jack Rabbit toys are some of my favorites because they are instant classics with their old-fashioned sensibilities, bright colors and innovative designs.
Steiff is here and we have added some new animals and dogs from all their lines. From the exquisite mohair line we chose Ernesto Husky, Magda Brown Cow and many others. We added several animals from their mainstream plush line and some cute mini cosy animals for the younger crowd. Steiff spans the entire gamut of plush with something for everyone at every price point, but each item carries that distinctive Steiff appeal which guarantees gift giving success.
Douglas arrived with alot of our favorite dogs, cats, horses and wild animals along with several new items. We love the husky collection which features Siberian Huskies and a cute Samoyed. We picked up hedgehogs, ferrets, prairie dogs, penguins, cats and a few new horses. I love Douglas animals, they all have that gorgeous detail in their faces and wistful, endearing expressions. We are constantly reordering the Siberian Huskies which seem to be the hot item this year.
So we are scouring the catalogs and getting our orders together...looking for items to replace retired critters and restocking our favorites.
One of our new suppliers is Platte River Trading. They have arrived with donkeys, black squirrels, opossums, naked mole rats, okapis, glove puppets, a new seal, ostriches, bats, armadillos, roadrunners, wild boars and mountain goats. We have also added a deer, an owl and a furry tarantula.
I love being in the toy business...you should see us when the new catalogs arrive or better yet...when a shipment comes in. It is like Christmas every time!
I also love the comments from all of you. It is so much fun to hear about your pets, kids and stories. It is always a reminder of the personal connection we all have.
