Wild Goats and Sheep

Goats are related to sheep but are lighter in body structure. Their horns arch back and they often have beards. The Rocky Mountain Goat is actually a member of the antelope family, but we have included him here. The ibex family is identified by the ridges on their horns. Sheep do not have beards or scent glands like goats. Wild sheep have horns which grow in a spiral, while some domestic sheep have no horns. More goat and sheep facts below.

Wild Sheep

Dall Sheep live in the subarctic mountains of Alaska and Canada. They eat a variety of plants. Both the male and females have horns but the male's horns are more prominant. Bighorn sheep range from southern Canada to Mexico. They are known for the impressive head-butting displays of the males during breeding season.
