THE OKAPI

A Collection of Stuffed Okapi

The okapi looks very much like a cross between a giraffe and a zebra, but is a member of the giraffe family. He lives in the Congo and was discovered around 1900. He has an unusually long tongue which he uses to hook leaves from trees. The male has two skin-covered horns. They are very shy, living in forests where they are rarely seen as they feed mainly at night.
